I don't know if there's enough traffic here for a daily thread but there's no harm in trying.

Good morning, all, and happy father's day to those who are. Also to those who aren't. Two of my three offspring are here for the day and I plan to enjoy it.

I think it's the sort of thing that will catch on with those of us who like this sort of thing Fox.

Happy Father's Day to all the papas out there!

I am polishing up the equipment and pumping up the batteries in preparation for this afternoon's wedding. I have to remember to bring the tissues .. I'm going to be a weepy photographer. I love these kids!

Here's a photo of them taken in our music store, where Tim worked, two weeks after they met, six years ago.

It's too late for a "Good morning" here, but that gives me the chance to say some more about my Sunday.

The alarm woke me today!
And after I'd taken my shower, among the first things for me to do was try to get myself connected with that photo book printer's server - to no avail. No such luck up to this very point (and it's 4:23 p.m by now!). Hmph :(

And then I had to rush to that self-same neighbouring town where there also is the open air festival - but I didn't go there but right to the only church they have (Anty also knows that church! And also from within!). We met to warm ourselves up and do a last rehearsal of the pieces we were going to sing in the service.

Today was a special day. It was the "Church Music Festival" (which attracted ... let's say: a tiny fraction of the amount of people who are populating the rock festival grounds just now... erm... well...), so ALL the musical groups that rehearse and play and learn under the care of our choirmaster/organ player had a chance to present themselves. There's all in all three adult singer choirs (one did not perform as theirs is a different choirmaster), many different groups of recorder players, from as young as 6 up to the adult recorder group who play all sorts of recorders, from the normal, small, best-known soprano recorder to the large (expensive!!!) base recorders. And then there is the trombone group which sports about two trombone players, and the others play trumpets, cornet, tubas - brass. You know. And there's the children's choir.

Which means: today's service was looooooooooooong. More so, as four children were christened, too.

And there was lunch afterwards.

Now the "singing season" is over and we're going on holidays until July 30. (By that time, I'll be in Northern-Ireland and will miss the re-opening of choir practise... :( ) I'll miss the singing!

I've just taken Sabine back to her friend's house, from where they'll walk over to the festival grounds and enjoy the bands who'll play tonight. I'm going to get her home at around midnight or so from her friend's house. I think she'll enjoy herself!

And Fox, I'd show you that photo book, if only I knew how to ... Maybe via screen shots? I'll try. OK?

Sounds like quite a church music program, LaFoto. Ours is good enough that they sometimes bring in people of Mitica's caliber to play.

wheeee, you did have a long day, LaFoto! Everybody rushing about getting their particular part of your church's festival going.

Hey, a suggestion if you'd like to show us some of that photo book: maybe start your own thread under the "special projects" forum? This certainly qualifies as a special project - did I read you had spent 10 hours on it already? Gor for it!

....my Sunday will be quiet. Father's Day here is generally quiet, my hubby not big on what we call the "Hallmark (greeting cards) holidays". Young son is also putting in a double shift at the restaurant where he works, since other fathers who don't mind a Hallmark holiday will be going out with their families, and it will be busy there! We won't see him till 10-11 PM tonight.

Yesterday we spent the day on the lake with our friends who own a nice-sized pontoon boat. It's been HOT here so this was a great escape. Beautiful day to chug around, we threw anchor in a small cove and swam, drank wine and had a wonderful picnic. We lounged out in the water on rafts until the stars came out - ended up staying out there very late, and didn't come home till nearly 3 AM. :biglaugh: Too lovely to leave!

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads!

Sounds like a dandy of a day, everyone! I've had such a busy week! Stress test on Wednesday, then off to take pictures at our church's 'Kids' Camp'. Thurday more pictures, then Friday the 'easy part' of the stress test. Saturday I had the great joy of meeting a new friend's two oldest daughters and talking to them about cameras & photography! What fun! Then, our kids came for an early fathers' day cookout.
This morning was amazing! I was a storyteller at church for "wee folk"... 1st thru 3rd graders. I had their total attention (which I'm told is something of a small miracle in and of itself) and it was a blast!! :) :)
Now... she rests. ;)

Terri, I didn't think about the Special Projects Forum, but you're right, I might put them in there. Good idea. Thanks for telling me that! :D

(Having a longer night than I'd like to have as the alarm is definitely going off at 5:25 tomorrow morning, as DH must drive the three hours+ to his work tomorrow morning - and he stays closer in the little apartment of his own during the week and will only be back on Friday. But the bands keep playing till 11:30 tonight, and Sabine will give me a ring only after that so I can go get her home).

Sunday was day 2 of the Toronto Islands Dragonboat festival. My team captured a bronze in our division...edged out of a silver medal by .22 seconds! Thankfully it was a sunny warm day, after yesterday's rain.

Then it was off to my brother's home to pay tribute to dad. BBQ'd steak....mmmmm!

Ooh! Congratulations on the bronze! :toast:
Never mind the silver, next year you'll go for gold!
