Tangerini’s Sandia Mountains photo inspired me to locate this image… The last time I worked this negative I made an analog 16x20 Print (Kodak Ultra - N surface) which I had intended to frame and hang in my office.

Upon arriving at the frame shop, I took the photograph out of the box, and placed on the counter by the mat samples. As I turned to set the box down on the floor to clear some counter space, another customer walks up beside me and stood a framed picture, on its corner, right smack in the middle of the print. Let’s just say that I was highly displeased after observing the two inch gash which was introduced by his carelessness.

Ironically enough, I never, ever, make just one copy of anything I print, but this time, due to time pressure, that’s exactly what happened. Photo was never printed again…My attempts at printing with our Epson 2200 don’t begin to capture the colors I was able to reproduce with the Enlarger/RA4 process.

Oh, as a side note. I read where a Color Lab Cooperative is opening on the East side of Atlanta. They have a 31’ Kreonite Processor which is the same type I used to print this picture. The enlargers available will allow for any format up to, and including, 4X5. I can send a link to their homepage if anyone is interested.

Thanks for viewing/reading

Is this a sunrise, Brad? It's gorgeous! I love the referred light on the river. Wowser!

BTW... I commend you for not opening up a can of 'whoop ass' on that bonehead! hahaha!!!!!

Every time I see this image I get the itch to go back out there. I could live in this picture! Zion does things to your head, like whisper to you that it really wouldn't hurt anything to just get a job sacking groceries at the store up the road, and never coming home. It's that breathtaking.

I'm not a morning person!

Another side note...Terri and I spent the whole day swimming and picnicking at the river and saw ONE person the whole day. Remarkable considering the amount of traffic the park gets.

Zion will always be one of my favorite places on the planet.

You say that, but there was the time we were up and walking around with the deer and realized it was only 5:30 AM....

As I recall this was taken while we were just crossing a bridge and turned our heads. Had to stop cold so he could set up the Rollei. Zion is full of scenes like this, sunup to sundown.

We have to go baaaack! :p

It's a beautiful picture! And, I would have been taking that other customer "outside" if you know what I mean! Oh, man.

I would like a link to the photolab. I do not do scans, but am always on the lookout for a good lab who prints from the negs.

Hey Tammy,

We had intended to go the lab’s open house on Saturday but forgot; drat! Anyway, here is the link…

The fact that they are here in town is very exciting to me because I do love to shoot, and print, color negative film. I had resigned myself to loading positive film when I wanted color because it is so much easier to work with in regards to my scanner. Nothing beats working on the Kreonite though and doing the analog printing; I love it!

Cheers,

Gorgeous light in this one! I love Zion. I'm thinking about going back there this fall.

I agree and had the same thought while I was there!

I agree and had the same thought while I was there!Girl, maybe there's an eventual meetup in our future. I know I'll be back someday - been there twice and it's not enough!
