The ocotillo is the stick-like plant in the upper left.

That is one gorgeous sky that the ocotillo is silhouetted against!! The wispy bits high up, and the coloured bits by the horizon make a really pretty background for the plant(s). You exposed it well....it's so easy to mess it up when there's a dark foreground and a lighter background. (Or is it just me that commonly flubs it?)

Thanks for the comment, Antarctican. It's certainly not just you. This is a combination of a shot exposed for the ground and a shot exposed for the sky.

Well done. You brought out some nice details, and good on you for not calling it a cactus. :)

Thanks, Walter. I may not know much, but I know most of the vegetation in the Sonoran Desert.

Sorry. I drew the short straw for being a pita today.

"Sorry. I drew the short straw for being a pita today."

I must have sounded defensive or snarky. Didn't mean to at all. Need to work on internet communications....

Beauty of a shot the choice to use 2 exposures has really lifed this from a dullish flower shot to a far deeper small lanscape type shot. Great work and good use of blending the images
