C&C welcome. The sun was setting, so there wasn't a lot of available light, but I thought the low light fit the sombre mood of the scene

I really like this image, Anty. So much to like - it IS a very cold shot, makes you shiver just to see that icy water. The bright red of the canoe is a nice shot of warmth in an otherwise very cold scene.
Love the reflection - just adds another element to this wintry scene.
Nicely done.

Ok what lens do you use? My gosh ever one of your pictures is crisp and rich in color. The only lens I have that comes close to this quality is my 50mm.

I like this! The thing that makes it for me is the rope draped neatly off the side of the boat. I love that the interior of the boat is red, too! I'll bet that was something that drew you to this!
I am going out on a limb here to say that this boat has 2 sets of oarlocks and has never seen a motor on it.

I hope to get a 50mm lens at some point, but I figured I better get better at basic photography before I reward myself with good glass.

That plus the reflection in the icy water, and the whole atmosphere of 'quiet' and 'waiting for spring' that I felt.

I got my 50mm from B&H. Wasn't to expensive.
