These are my 'grandgirls'! I took it at a local park. It's a digital print converted to b&W with SilverEfex Pro (one of my favorite little plug-ins). :)

Well, I don't know nuthin' about plugins  but I will say this is one of the nicest B&W conversions I've seen. You have a very nice tonal range going here.

Nice conversion, and such a lovely shot of two (sisters?) enjoying each others company and a summer's day.

...see the next shot of them when they're fighting?!?!?
I agree, very nice tones...what exactly is the SilverEfex Pro's claim to fame? I understand that the next release of Photoshop (above CS) is supposed to have a convert to B&W action that's better than plain ole unsaturate.

Most things are better than plain ole desaturate. I picked up an action, several years ago, from a guy named Wally who was a regular on some of the forum. His B&W actions are great.

I don't use Photoshop  I guess it's always seemed counter-intuitive to me... and "actions"...:puke: what is wrong with calling them 'macros'??? hahahaha :peace:
I use PaintShopPro which started out as pretty good shareware and is now owned by Corel Draw. It's just as powerful, I can use most of the plug-ins available to PS users, and it does not cost an arm & a leg. Bt, I'm not a Mac girl, either. :big grin:
Those Nik software plug-ins are really well made. Some parts of the interface are a bit odd, but if you can put up with oddity, it's a good thing! hahaha You can control not only what film you want it to look like, but the grain and a host of variables (even paper tone).
Thanks for the comments! (Yep, Brad, fighting would be a pretty normal state for them).

Wondering…do you think I would improve my B&W prints (tonal separation wise) if I invested in a plug-in or two? In the past I’ve only scanned my negs and adjusted using the basic settings. I may not be getting the best of what this printer can do(Epson 2200)
???

I'll say 'yes', but I think I'll start a new thread on plug-ins in the digital forum, Ok?? Wanna meet me there later?
