Hi
Just wanted to ask if you ever experienced a vast consumption of power from your battery during using auto focus? I know that it consumes much but I wasn't aware that it is THAT MUCH. Last Sunday I went out shooting. I had my battery charged full and I was only able to take about 70 photos with autofocus on on my sigma 70-300 mm. Then the battery started to blink that it is dead (or soon would be). So I switched to manual AF and...I was able to take anothe 200 shots!
I repeated this in the evening but with canon's 18-55 kit lens - it consumed much less - I was able to take about 500 shots.
is it the matter of motors in sigma? or anything else?

I found shooting with my 170-500mm Sigma and using auto focus impossible. It was just way too slow, specially at the zoo. Now using my Sigma, I only shoot Manual, and hope my bad eyes can see straight that day.
I have noticed with the Sigmas on a Canon camera, they do run a little slower then Canon lenses.
