Artograph mentioned that she is familiar with the Mennonite area west of Toronto, so I said I'd dig up the shots I got several years ago of two of their carriages exiting the last covered bridge in Ontario (at West Montrose).

(They're a bit dark. If I can find the originals, I should try to do some post-processing in Photoshop)

The bridge itself:

Nice, are they like Amish but without the beards?

Gee, I'm not sure! I just read about the Mennonites on Wikipedia, to see if I could answer that. It says the Amish split off from the Mennonites back in 1693, so there must be a lot of similarities between the two groups. And beards were mentioned in the Amish section, but not in the Mennonite section, so you could well be right.

Nicely done Jeanney. This bridge is on my hit list for a fall trip.

I was up in Elmira doing a delivery the other day, and a horse and buggy pulled in the drive way behind me. It was the coolest thing. :-)

Nice Anty!! I especially like the bridge alone!

I have a great cemetary to take Chiller to!! It's great....*I* can't do anything with it...but I'm sure *he* could take some great shots!!

I like the first shot! Neat captures Anty! That would be a great area for a meet up.

It was pretty darn cold out that day, so I was surprised to see an 'open' carriage being used (like in the first shot) rather than the closed-in kind (like in the second shot). Hopefully they didn't have too far to go

These really nice Anty! I have never seen a covered bridge in person because in Colorado and TX they apparently never caught onto the craze that the eastern coast did. Very cool!

Nice shots. We have Mennonites here and they have a very strict dress code, but use modern conveniences. I'm not sure what their restrictions are.
