Took this this past summer when we took the 'slow' ferry from Manitowoc, WI across Lake Michigan to Luddington, MI. It was a great trip! It takes about 4 hours to make the voyage, but it's a ton of fun! I'm hoping we can do it again this year!

Cool!! Were you able to go up inside it? I've yet to find a lighthouse that allowed tourists, but they are all so interesting!

Nice composition! I often struggle with how to frame the shot when the lighthouse is so much taller than the surrounding building(s)...you really did a good job here.

Thanks Antarctican!! I love lighthouses & this one turned out quite nicely!

Many of the Great Lake lighthouses are open for tourists. There are a couple that you can even stay in (like a B&B)...maybe they are called L&Ls... "Lights & Lunch" :lol:

This is funny, I planned a lighthouse tour in MI early last year, which included this very lighthouse :).

But since weather did not play nice on my, I stayed close to Detroit and never made it there.

Many of the Great Lake lighthouses are open for tourists. There are a couple that you can even stay in (like a B&B)...maybe they are called L&Ls... "Lights & Lunch" :lol:Now that would be a fun place to have a room...probably photogenic inside as well as out. :biggrin:

It's a beauty! It's about a 2 + mile walk to it...have to walk, but there is a road to walk on. Not a huge deal. Flat & relatively easy. I picked up a book that is quite nice... "Great Lakes Lighthouses American & Canadian" by Wes Oleszewski. It's even got boxes you can check when you visit a given lighthouse!

The lighthouse on the cover is in the UP. It's Seul Choix Point...I have NO clue as to the correct pronounciation! hahaha it is a dandy, though!
