The backlighting makes the tree beautiful, giving all of its snow-covered branches and twigs a glow-like feel. Not sure why, but it looks like a miniature...

Thanks!!!!

It's actually covered in ice (it was a while ago...I think it's ice!!) ..and it is a "smallish" tree.....it's just a baby....a "choke cherry" I believe!!!

:O)

You must be so pleased with this image! The backlighting on the icy tree is lovely, you caught the snow glistening in the foreground, and the composition (with the great shadow reaching to the foreground) is beautiful.

Looking at this a second time, I think it would benefit from a little Ansel Adams trick. I don't think the detail in the snow behind the backlit branches adds anything to the shot. If you were to burn that in and create a solid black tonality, it would make the branches pop even more. If you have photoshop, you can do this easily with the burn tool set to "shadows". It shouldn't affect the highlights on your branches one bit.

Thank you, thank you all!!! :hail:

(What a wonderful boost....just when I thought I should change hobbies, I hear all these kind words!!!) Thanks for taking the time to comment!!

P.S. mperko...thanks for the suggestion....I don't have Photoshop...or anything else really....I use my Kodak software, and the stuff on PhotoBucket!! LOL!! I'm fairly limited as to what I can do!!
