Well, they started doing some groundwork on the ground were my appartment will be built, so im going there every week and take some shots. (Thanks for the idea Anty) Think it is pretty cool to see your own house being built :big grin: Maybe ill go multiple times in one week, of there is alot of work been done.
Anyways, ill start with the shot i allready shown you guys in the 60.000th post and work from there
#1 04-22-09 Here they started with taking out all the stones and trees and whatnot
http://www.xs4all.nl/%7Eschouwe/Fotografie/Mijnhuis001.jpg
#2 04-29-09 This week they took out all the old sewer pipes. They also put some drains in the ground, to pump out the groundwater. They do this so they can work the ground better.

Daan - glad you're going to try to document the building of your place! I wish I'd done that when my condo was being built. It will be fun for us, too, to watch your place take shape
[Have they given you a time estimate for when they think it will be completed?]

Well, here is the next set.
#1 06-05-09 When i arrived today 2 mountains were blocking my view.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~schouwe/Fotografie/Mijnhuis004.jpg
#2 Not alot changed on this side, except the was a red and white ribbon woohooooo. They also got rid of most of the old sewer stuff
http://www.xs4all.nl/~schouwe/Fotografie/Mijnhuis005.jpg
#3 Then i went to the other side of the mountains and there was this big @ss hole in the ground. Im not really sure what that is for, but my guess is the new sewer system
http://www.xs4all.nl/~schouwe/Fotografie/Mijnhuis006.jpg
And thats it for this week

Those are pretty big sewer pipes just for one apartment ... typically, if the soil is less than optimal, one has to "over-excavate" for the footings and foundation slab and then import soil which is better for compaction and stability.
If you have to de-water prior to construction ... then the existing soil is probably over-saturated with water and needs to be replaced ... and/or you're gonna need some quite large footings.
Good Luck and if you are the owner ... document EVERYTHING.

Will do :)
And they are going to pyledrive some poles into the ground and built on that. Most of the houses in Holland are built on poles, cause the soil is to soft and houses will sink into the ground if they dont. I think the typical pole is about 20 meters and goes all the way into the soil. Then they built the foundation on that.
I dont know about the sewage pipes, maybe it was a junction and all the stuff from the houses next to it goes through that. That maybe the cause of why it is that big. Just a wild guess though.
Ok, I will be over in Delft in September to shoot a wedding. I am considering spending a few hours in Amsterdam possibly to do some shooting... Maybe meet for a beer too!!!

05-13-2009, 02:29 PM
^sounds like a plan. Which date will you be in Amsterdam then, then ill check if i can get a day off of work then.
And now for the weekly pic, only got one this time. They closed the holes again, but there is this orange pipe sticking out of the ground now.......i know, totally groovy.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~schouwe/Fotografie/Mijnhuis007.jpg
Well I will be in Delft 10-11-12 shooting my friends Wedding. I should be traveling up to Amsterdam on the morning of the 13th and maybe catching an afternoon flight back to Dublin. So we could possibly spend the morning shooting and maybe having a beer. I will let you know more details in the next month.

^ thats a sunday....thats good, cause i dont have to work then :) So this could turn out to be a mini meet-up :) We'll talk about it when the time is near, if you are still up for it offcourse.
23-05-09 And now to my project. The build site didnt change alot this week, so its a bit pointless to put up a pic again. But........i was working in 3D-studio a bit and started to draw my house-to-be. Now im working on the furniture, almost finished the living room now :)
Here you can have a sneak-peak into the future that will be my house (or somewhat like it)

yup, its to scale. Im just not sure about the height of the rooms, since they didnt give me a drawing of the sides. But im pretty sure its about right.
And here is a new pic. Yes a real one. Nothing much happened, they flatened everything out so they are pretty much back at square one. But with a better sewage system (or so i hope) and they also got rid of the big orange machine.

If nothing different was specified, in Europe the rooms should be 2,40m in height if I am not mistaken.

Its been a while since i made my last update here, so here is another one. There hasnt changed much since the last pic i posted. Aparently it didnt go to well when they made the sewage system and they have to repair some stuff. Also, they found a power cable that wasnt on the drawing, so they have to reroute that. So even more delay. And then there is the fact that the vacations started here. So my guess is that they wont start untill the vacations are over and that will take a few weeks. I guess i just have to be patient and just wait till they can finally start. The good thing is, this gives me more time to save some money :)
I hope i can post a picture again in the next update.

07-11-2009, 09:45 AM
I was thinking just yesterday that we hadn't had an update in a while! And I feared that there had been a delay of some sort. Unfortunately, that's all too common in new home constructions. As you say, though, it gives you more time to save.
Have they had to redig stuff up to reroute the cable?
good to have at least some news :)
doenoe
07-14-2009, 04:05 AM
I guess they have to dig up the powercable and then dig another ditch to put it in. Cause how i understand it, the cable is in the way and it has to go. At least the area they are building the complex isnt too big, so they wont have to dig alot.
And a little update: i got the phonenumber of the company that will deliver the kitchens. Gonna call them this week to make an appointment and pick out the colors of the kitchen :D
doenoe
07-23-2009, 01:55 PM
woohoooo, finally some progress. Not at the construction site, but thrilling nontheless. Yesterday i got a phonecall to make an appointment to sign the papers for the house. I will go there on the 4th of august and after that i will own the house :D
And today i went out and bought me a kitchen. Thats really cool and now i know how that wil look, i can go on and see how im going to decorate the rest of the house.
Here is a scan of how the kitchen will look like:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~schouwe/Fotografie/Mijnhuis009.jpg
On the lower-right there is a freezer with a refrigerator on top of that. In the middle there is a induction cooker. And loads of drawers and cupboards. Im totally happy right now :D

Hmmm, not a terribly large amount of change from the last picture, it seems. But surely with the arrival of 'summer' weather, it will go quickly now. They haven't revised your possession date again, have they? The October 1-ish date is less than 4 months away.
doenoe
06-09-2010, 03:35 PM

And today I went inside too take some measurements and this was the first time I was in my own little appartment :D. Offcourse I took along my camera and made some shots. Most of them arent interesting enough to post here, but here are a few I want to share:

Lovely waterview you have there! And it's a nice sized balcony (nice for sitting out with a drink on a warm summer afternoon/evening). It's so exciting that the project is nearing completion within the next few months or so. (You might have to chop off the tops of those trees in a few years, though, if they start to block your view. Hey Daan where's the guest room? For those who don't like beer or wine will there be maybe some rum? ]What? If there's rum on the menu, count me in!
no guest room, so you can camp out on the balcony (if the weather permits it) or we just have to put some beds in the livingroom.
Alex likes camping in cold weather, so he can have the balcony! SD and I will take the living room. Although I dare say, very little sleep will be obtained by any of us if we were all to descend on you!

Well it is pretty exciting. We will have to have a virtual house warming pretty.

01-14-2011, 02:51 PM
Well, the housewarming will have too wait yet again. They said that we would get the key at the end of Januari and with that knowledge me and other people started to plan things (like floor delivery, kitchen installment, wall stuff etc etc) Now it seems that they wont be able too finish the building before that date and what I heard from other people, it may take till March before they are ready to give us the key.
Well, in short: me and the other buyers arent too happy and are getting ready too take some steps against the builders and the project developer, cause this is just getting ridiculous.
Anyways, I havent made alot of new pictures but I will post some interieur pics when I have some more time :)

Weren't you supposed to get the key in September? Too bad that there isn't a clause in the purchase agreement providing for a penalty to the builders for not delivering the apartment they promised within a reasonable time. I'M sorry to hear this.
doenoe
01-15-2011, 03:51 AM
well, there is a clause in the agreement. They have to finish the building within 230 work days. But days like vacations and periods of time when its freezing dont count. But when they dont deliver before the 28th, they will probably exceed the 230 days and we can claim stuff. We (the buyers) are going to get together soon and see what we can do with this mess.
And I should have gotten my keys months ago, but the developer probably doesnt have a clue how long it takes too finish a building and gave us wrong dates a couple of times. So it all kinda sucks, but in the end I will forget about all of this and live happely ever after in my appartment :)

What a drag - I know you're chomping at the bit to get in there. It looks so great!!
But construction delays seem to be more the normal than the exception. Everything seems to take twice as long as originally projected. :waiting:
Try to be patient - you are right, once you're in, you will quickly forget all this nonsense and live happily ever after. :sun:

Yippeeeee! Now, does the key fit the door?
Funny you should ask that.........we didnt have a key for the door to enter the building. Wasnt their fault though, somebody tried to break an entry and destroyed the lock. The guy in charge gave me a spare key so I could get in once the workers were all gone. The keys on the picture all fitted though :boogie:
But in the appartment itself its all going according to plan. Will make some pics once things start too look like its suppose too look :)

This is what the kitchen looks like now. We have lowered the ceiling in the kitchen and built in three spotlights. All the walls are finished with plaster (I think its called that) and will stay white. One of the livingroom walls will be painted another colour though, Im just not sure what colour it will be

The kitchen is looking beautiful. Can't wait to see the flooring. I see that there is natural light on the right. Do you have any rooms with light on two sides?
I live in an old (by Canadian standards) house. It was one of the original houses up here on the cliff overlooking the city of Owen Sound. Lots of light, and charming enough, but I long for the clean lines of modern architecture. I would love to live in a simple house in the woods. The simplicity of sparse decor tends to calm.
I love your new house Daan!

And hey, is that a pet cage in the lower right hand corner of that last pic? Will you have a pet? Or was the puppy Nellie there for a visit?
doenoe
03-07-2011, 01:47 PM
a house in the woods would be nice, but there is this budget thing im dealing with these days ;)
Thats natural light on the right. The sun rises in the direction is was facing when making this picture. Then it will go a bit to the right when it gets higher and will set in side that my back is facing. So I wont have any sunlight in the morning. Early afternoon the light will get in through the windows on the right and in the afternoon, evening I will have sun on my balcony :).
And that petcage was for Nellie. I will have the 3terrariums with the 2 bearded dragons and the ballpython. Thats more then enough for now :)

another little update: we still havent got the normal power and water supply, but the building company has arranged stuff so the people who live here can live their normal life. The balcony is still a work in progress, they just have to finish the floor and the ceiling now.
Besides that its a big mess in my home now and cleaning day has arrived. I will post pics as soon as everything is finished :)
