Has anyone used any of Efke's AURA IR820 infrared films? I'm interested to know how they might compare the the old standard, Kodak's HIE. It appears they make varieties with and without the anti-halation layer. I managed to get in one roll of HIE before they canned it... and it never was available as 120 or 4x5, as far as I know, during my photographic endeavors.

Actually, you can disregard this post. I mistyped my search terms, and I think I've found what I'm looking for in earlier posts.

Glad you found the info you were after. I think there has been some discussion on the Efke.

I have liked the results I've seen - my main complaint with it is that it's so much slower than HIE. I cling to my last dozen or so rolls of it, though even kept in the freezer, I know I have to get it all used up within the next couple of years.

Hm. I seem to recollect techniques for hypersensitizing film, mainly for use in astrophotography. I don't suppose there's any reason why this shouldn't be applicable to infrared film, too. I must look into this.

In general, though, long exposures don't bother me too much when I'm doing experimental and "alternative" stuff. I like to take them slow and relaxed; it counters the frustrations!

Found some basic concept information at http://www.astropix.com/HTML/I_ASTROP/FILM/HYPERING.HTM

Overall, sounds like it's a lot of work (which I expected) and both detailed and tedious.

Right up my alley!

 Well, one man's "tedious" is another man's "fascinating", so I say, Go for it!

I don't really describe in detail things like bromoils to many people, for that very reason. What sounds like this awful painstaking chore is fun for me!
