For those of you Zonies who are interested, I went to this show this past weekend. It's a wonderful comparison of two great artists and I highly recommend it.

I read Richard Nilsen's review and wasn't eager to go, but based on yours I probably willl.

Well, Fox, I admit that I've been a Weston fan for years so might be biased. I didn't really know much about Sonya Noskowiak, but now really enjoy her portraiture. I was lucky and walked in just as a docent tour began.

Well, Nielsen's reviews are to be discarded most of the time. Heck, he gave the Phoenix Symphony some bad reviews for some really good concerts. :-)

I like him, but I'm sure he's fallible like the rest of us.

I stopped by and saw the exhibit and it was interesting. They had one of Weston's negatives displayed next to the print. It was interesting to see how much shadow detail he had burned out to simplify the image--wisely, I think. Thanks for the suggestion, Ian.

I would love to have this show nearby. This is the kind of thing I enjoy seeing. Whether you're a fan or not, it's fascinating to get to look at someone's body of work, especially with an overview from a guide (or even the dreaded headhones). ;) The part about the negative mounted by the print would be especially interesting to me.

No!!! Would this be one you played in, Mitica?
