I got a piece of "goody equipment" added to my darkroom yesterday.

I call it "goody" equipment because it's one of those things you are reluctant to buy because, although it's incredibly handy when you need it, it's not exactly critical to a functioning darkroom.

My new copy stand! :cheer:

As the name and photo suggest, a copy stand is basically for copying print work. (This isn't a great shot -those wires behind the column actually go up to the safelights - but it gives you the basic idea.) You lay your print work on the base. With photo lights adjusted at a 45 degree angle (checked on each side with a light meter), you mount your camera on the column, much like an enlarger lens setup. With your camera pointed down, you fill the frame with your artwork, use maybe f8 or f11 and a macro lens if you have one, and tungsten slide film. (A digital camera can be used if preferred.)

I borrowed a copy stand heavily when I was regularly doing juried art fests/shows and needed to send out slides of my stuff. I also had no way to reproduce large prints that won't fit on my scanner. The copy stand is cheaper than a new scanner!

It breaks down quite easily, too. The arms clamp to the baseboard and the lights slide off and on.

So, hooray! One of life's minor annoyances removed. :boogie:

Cool, Terri! There was a time I used one of these quite a bit, but haven't seen one in a while. Have fun with it!

I think you're right. These are pretty basic photo bulbs, around 3000 Kelvin, nothing super hot. And the price is right. ;)
