Every now and again I think I get a little carried away and should get back to basics.
Hopefully this will help...

I'm excited about next month when the rest of the list is revealed. :)
Seriously, my compositions have been way too loose lately. Maybe reading over this stuff will bring my head back around.

Interesting. I read a book by Briot and found it helpful.

Seems like a great tutorial. Straightforward, and you can't argue with the successful shots he is using to demonstrate the composition point he is demonstrating.
I do agree that it's nice to re-visit the "basics" from time to time. I don't get out often enough to do hard-core landscape photography, and I know my results can be hit or miss sometimes. Practice (and study) make perfect!

So here's the final part:

Not bad I suppose. I was a bit more concious of composition last time I went out, but I think I shouldn't have been thinking about it. Regardless, it didn't hurt.

I'm a fan of Alain Briot's articles, but I'm a bigger fan of Weston. :)
"Now to consult the rules of composition before making a picture is a little like consulting the law of gravitation before going for a walk. Such rules and laws are deduced from the accomplished fact; they are the products of reflection." -Edward Weston
