This is done with in camera movement. I'm still trying to perfect my technique and have had to use a little noise reduction PP. I'll get it right one day ;)

I like these shots! This one is very nice as your lines are spot-on vertical! I think you got just enough movement to give it an 'ethereal' look while still being able to identify that it is 'trees'. Great job! :)

Nice effect. Is that just a case of panning up/down as you take the shot? What sort of shutter speed do you have to use?

Very spooky/ethereal. I quite like it. (Quite a departure from your usual landscape shots!)

Interesting. It seems to me that your approach would work best with subjects that have strong vertical shapes, as is the case here.

Wow, way to introduce yourself to this forum. Super-cool!
(On a crazy related note, five minutes before seeing your photo I saw another one strikingly similar on another forum. The other photo can be seen here: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3524/3468751065_0c7a15ff14.jpg)

Thanks for the comments :) Yes, vertical panning by hand. Loads and loads of goes at doing it and only one that was anywhere near good enough. There must be an easier way! Fox paw, also seen in done horizontally in landscapes, like beach scenes. Great link invisible :)
