I somehow looked at the calendar on TPB today (that was a first) and saw that i had to think green. So i went out to the park and shot some bugs......most of em got a green background :big grin:
Some of you will know that i went to the butterfly garden alot and shot with the camera in one hand and the flash in the other hand. Flash triggered with a wireless trigger. So i thought i would try that one the wild bugs and, to my surprise, it worked out pretty well. I thought the bugs would be more skittish then the butterflies in the exhibit. But some of them let me get very close, including the butterflies.............that was an even bigger surprise. Im happy now :goodvibes:

....and keep the earth clean and stuff:lol: That's the idea....

These are dazzling shots. I don't even like flies, but you manage to make this creature look beautiful! All these images are so crisp!

I have read that the health of our honeybees (and bees in general, I suppose) reflects on the health of the environment, so thanks for the extra nudge today by posting these great bee shots.

Whoa. That second photo here, that one ... totally BLOWS MY MIND!
That wasp (or hover fly, I fail to tell the difference just now) in flight coming TOWARDS you and you got it in focus. I am sooooooooooo in awe.
Not to mention the COLOUR of the backgrounds, of course.
But for the time being, that insect-in-flight-TOWARDS YOU-photo (as opposed to "going past", i.e staying in the focal plane!) is the top 1 photo for me!

I now think WASP. Much rather than hover fly. Those would be thinner and less furry.

#2 is a hover fly. There are loads of different hover flies, some mimic bees and some mimic wasps. This is a bee-mimic. I guess they are solitairy and are pretty territorial, so they are hanging around (literally) and move away as soon as they spot another bug in their territory......and that happens alot. So they only are still for a few seconds and this one hung on just long enough to focus :)
Thanks alot for the nice comments everyone. Hope there will be another nice day this weekend so i can make some new shots. But till then you just have to do with these :)
