Today is Holocaust Memorial Day around the world, and I thought it'd be a good idea to post these. Although I'm not one who usually photographs pieces of art, I couldn't pass up on this opportunity.

The five pieces represent things, material and otherwise, that Holocaust victims left behind while forced to jump on trains that for many would be the last ride.

All taken at the Oregon Holocaust Memorial in Washington Park (Portland) with Nikon D70s and Nikkor 18-200 VR.

Very moving. I've no doubt it's great to see this Memorial in person. Thanks for sharing.

The five pieces were well chosen. Definitely a very moving scene. These are all really good, but there's something about the composition of the first one that makes it my fave.

Thanks very much, ladies.

I didn't really know what to expect when I went. In fact, this memorial was only one of maybe nine or ten attractions (Japanese Garden, International Rose Garden, Oregon Zoo, etc.) available in Washington Park, and it wasn't even in my plans. I'm glad I did go, because it was moving in a way not many memorials I've visited have affected me.

The five pieces were well chosen.
There are actually a few more pieces, and of course the memorial itself (see below).

We have a Jewish museum here in Tulsa and I went to a Holocaust exhibit. It was riveting. There were so many things to see. The star they had to sew on their clothes was really interesting to me. We all have seen the image in pictures and films but to see it on clothing from that time brought it all home.
