I was extremely fortunate to be able to go to a conference in New Orleans from October 7-14, 2010. I'd never been there, and was blown away by all the music they have there, on the street, in bars, all over the place. These were some of the jazz musicians who set up on a street corner, outside of Cafe du Monde (home of the famous beignets).

Cool. I've been hearing a lot of good things about New Orleans--Maybe some day. Any idea what the glove was about?

*Jealous! I've been wanting to go to New Orleans...had a chance this year but plans fell through.
My brother played tuba for a while and I remember him fussing about his fingers getting blisters from pressing the buttons. Maybe the guy was wearing a glove to protect his fingers?

Thanks for the comments, everyone!
Teresa is probably right about the glove...I think I saw several tuba players wearing something on the 'valve hand', and I wondered about it myself.
(New Orleans was fantastic, I must say. The people are very friendly, and the music and food is out of this world. There is sooooo much to see and do there. I definitely recommend it as a travel destination)

Looks like so much fun - New Orleans and jazz seem to go hand in hand. :) Glad you were able to go (sounds like several of us would like the chance, too!).
If you have some more shots, post 'em!
