Here's what people in Arizona do to cool down

Fine shots, Ian. I've driven past it many times but never stopped. Looks like fun.

Thanks, Fox. Same here ... I have driven by it umpteen times without stopping. I went camping at Mormon Lake with the kids this past weekend and we decided to stop on the way home. We all had a blast ... I'd highly recommend it (aside from the $20 parking fee).

For those non-Zonies ....

This is a state park in Oak Creek Canyon -- just outside of Sedona (about 1.5 hours from Phoenix). The water is ICE cold. There are jumping-off places, quiet pools, and fast-running water. It's very popular when it reaches 109 deg in the Phoenix area. When we got there at 9am on Sunday it was almost deserted (it opens at 9). By the time we left at almost noon, it was packed with people.

Fun series! My fave is the second shot, of the boy sliding down the rocks - his expression is great

As an aside, is Mormon Lake pretty full? I was thinking of a camping trip near there soon.

Nope -- the lake's almost empty :). We camped just off FR240 (the forest service campgrounds were too crowded).
