Sweet.
It wasn't so sweet to have to write out that check.... the extra sting was I wrote a rather large check to the US Treasury that morning.

I thought the title and photo might get a WTF? question or two.

This is my fathers' truck, a '97 GMC, that I had been borrowing. We had a strong storm come through with severe straight line winds. I had arrived home with dinner in hand just as the storm was beginning. I suppose the problem was that I didn't give the door a solid close. Later that night when I routinely let the mutt out for his last run, I noticed the interior light on. When I got over to the drivers side, the door was bent back on its hinges and the sheet metal damaged. Certain colorful language thus ensued.

I found a door at a local salvage yard for $150. The balance of the cost was for a couple of pins and bushings that were sheared off, mounting and painting. That would be $1,074.22 for a ten year old farm truck!!!

Not even a kiss afterwards either...

Ouch! I wasn't sure what the thread title meant, but I didn't think it was that you had to shell out that sum for repair. Yikes.

Ouch!

Yikes!
Yep. Oh yeah, it also needs a new set of treads ($600) and manifold gaskets replaced.($400)..... and a new windshield ($250)..... the latch on the tailgate is faulty (a shot of WD-40), a leak in the AC system ($12 refill from Wally World)... Why the hell did I borrow this truck?????

Adages are for real. Never have business dealings with family.......

Oh, bummer dude. I thought the title referred to your having purchased a new toy. Sorry to hear that it was just the repair cost.
