NEW PHOTOS ADDED 18 MAY 2009 BELOW

I'm nicking this idea from another forum. Seems like I'm posting up more here, so it makes sense to bore you folks instead.

The premise is to post at least one photo each week in this thread that I shot within that week, however, there is no limit. I also will try to remember not to post a photo here that is posted elsewhere on The Beat. There is nothing wrong with a short story about the photos or a joke recently heard either. Critique is not a part of the equation.

So I'm kicking this off with shots of a Fun Fair that was in a nearby town. I stopped by Saturday night...... well I was nearly out of tequila and had to do a runner :). I did take my monopod. Some of these were shot at ISO800 and some at ISO3200. NO FLASH.

What a great idea, to keep yourself shooting and posting. (I may have to nick the idea myself!) You're off to a great start, and I'm interested to see how this unfolds.

Thanks Anty. Yeah, that's kinda the idea....... to keep shooting something each week. I have no illusions of Carnegie Hall, but practice, practice, practice. I feel like it's a way to post photos without the stress of waiting for comments.

Please do have a go with it. The other place had a sub-forum in their Challenges forum.

Wow, is that lens sharp or what? Can you tell us the setup you used for these images?
Thanks Fredrico. I carried my 35mm f/2 and 85mm f/1.8 with the D700.

Very cool K! Looks like you were very successful with your fun fair photos.

So it's cool if we start our own?

So it's cool if we start our own?
It's not my place to say. But I think it's a pretty cool idea. Feel free to start your own thread and have fun with it. I expect/hope to be outside of the lines with mine..... eventually. There's no right and no wrong. It's yours, which, in my mind, means there's no wrong. Stuff 'em if you get agro, but most importantly...... have a laugh.

WEEK 2

I had a pretty interesting day of shooting on Sunday. First, there was a Rock 4 Pets concert at one of the ampitheaters in town and the shelter that I volunteer for was a prominent vendor. (photos to follow... many images to go through)

Secondly, later that afternoon I went to a BBQ & Blues event at a local radio station that I help support financially. I thought it was going to be an outdoor event, but it was actually in the offices of the station. I was able to meet the two Blues DJ's that I listen to and another that does a pretty good Jazz show. There was a local duo that was in the studio and there were smoking. A fifteen year old kid joined them on the harmonica and wailed. Although this station is part of Shaw University, it was comforting to see that I was amongst my contemporaries. A buncg of old geezers. Here's a few from there.....

I was at the right place, but at the wrong time.... didn't check my e-mails and the local photog group meetup had been cancelled. While waiting, I thought I'd try some panning.... I was about 150yds (137M) with my 70-200 all the way in. I didn't expect much and the results proved so....

Thanks John, Chiller and MM, much appreciated.

The first two shots of the Weigelia shrub were taken early in the morning.... I mean, I was still on my first cuppa and the sun had only just risen above the tops of the trees. The shrub is about ten feet tall now and all over the end of the house. It's got to be pruned, but I and the pollen collector (mostly bees) love the flowers.

I forgot to post this one of Monty last night. It's the "will you get that camera outta my face" look he often gives me.

I shot quite a lot this past week, but haven't had time to process them..., 'ya know how it goes. I'm away for business later this week and I have so much on my plate, I don't know when I'll get around to them. BUT, my new lens arrived today and I had to grab a couple of snaps with it. They'll be pretty boring but I was looking for particulars about it, not great shots. Oh yeah, it was rather blustery out there too.

WEEK 7

Damn..... is it Monday already? Since this is MY day to revisit the 52 Week project, I guess I'll throw a few up on a count of....... well, it's Monday.

I just got in today from a week out in Kansas City and downloaded ~1100 images from the trip. The first three days was business, a training session, if you will. I just hope that a dozen or so are decent.

As all out-of-town trips begin when the mutt can't be in attendance.... Monty to the boarders. (Umm, yeah, well that's a shower curtain he is laying on. I have black seats and he molts EVERWHERE, EVERY DAY)

I was intrigued with the patterns on the floor and did this....
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa199/kundalini2737/rdu1.jpg

I was laughing (as much as one can at 5:30am) at all the people queued up at the gate desk and then I began to wonder as the scheduled departure time has passed...
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa199/kundalini2737/rdu3.jpg

The flight was delayed untill 12:00pm and I was to be at the training facility at 1:00. I had pre-selected my seats for the outbound flight well forward of the wings in hopes to catch some aerial photos......... This is what I saw out of my newly reassigned flight.....

However, everyonce in a while, some abstracts hit the engine.
