Oooh. Now I'll have to PAY for it.

You can probably use your copy until it expires ... and then again .. :)

Damn.. I have only had LR2 for like 6 months, go figure!

At least it's only 99USD for the upgrade. And worth it.

I got caught like that with Ps. Upgraded late to Cs4 and then had to do it again in a year. USD250 that time. Adobe owns me.

I've yet to see a new feature that I absolutely have to have, so I usually skip a version or two when upgrading. It's important to pay attention to how many Adobe will let you skip, but they'll let you go two or three versions.

When it comes to DSLRs I've noticed I always buy about two months before the big rebates and price drops. :)

Lightroom's Beta 3 has made me a convert. I used to covet Photoshop--I use Paint Shop Pro--but with Lightroom I almost never feel the need for a better layers-based program than the one I have.

I attended a 2 hour overview of Lightroom 3 tonight. Wow! I'll be upgrading from LR2 very soon!

I don't think you'll regret it. Very nice - the lens correction feature is intriguing but not earth shaking but the new algorithms for noise are fabulous!

Good upgrade.

I've been using it for a couple of days. So far I haven't seen much that's different from the Beta version...a few more presets. But I haven't explored very thoroughly yet.

there isn't much more than what was in the beta. The lens corrections are new. Everything else is supposed to be a little more ship-shape. The beta was pretty good. All in all I think the product is way better than version 2.7

This tutorial explains the new features. There's quite a bit I hadn't found yet.

Downloaded the trial last week and got the disk in the mail today so I can enter an official serial number. It doesn't seem a lot different from LR2 yet, but I haven't played with it enough really to know. I need to see how the noise reduction compares to Noiseware Pro, which is what I'm currently using. My typical workflow now is to do initial work in LR and then to shift the image over to CS5 where I fine-tune it and use my noiseware plug-in. Maybe I'll be able to skip CS5 more frequently.

Ian, I used the Beta version for many months and never noticed some of the features pointed out in the tutorial I provided a link to. You might want to check it.

I plan on it! Thanks! I guess I'm a typical guy ... do first, then maybe read directions later :p

Don't neglect the distortion-correction features. Maybe it's because I use wide-angle lenses a lot but I deal with distortion all the time. Lightroom 3 has good distortion-correction features. Go to lens correction and hit manual.
