Long ago I drew inspiration from Vermeer for my some of my drawings. His composition is brilliant to me. Almost makes me want to either start drawing again or photographing people- almost :)

I'm always fascinated by the quality of light that is captured by the masters, especially window light. :) I love how Vermeer has so many subjects reading or working by windows (not that this is particularly surprising, given that windows were the main source of interior light). The pools of light, the flow of highlight and shadow around their subjects, are always so perfect. :love:

I hadn't noticed this thread, but I got a book at the Library yesterday on Rembrandt. I wanted to study his lighting. Never hurts to see what the masters did and anyway it's pleasant.
