Got this and a load of randomness when I posted a reply. White screen, loads of code etc. I've copied the important bits from the top of the page. The reply I made went through fine somehow.

Interesting. What were you posting a reply to? A forum thread, a PM, what?

Over the last couple of days, I've gotten random "cannot display the page" warnings after hitting "submit" when replying to threads. It looks like the reply is lost, but when I reopen the main page, the reply was accepted. Hasn't happened overmuch, but it's there.

Given our recent database trouble, I'm wondering if it's still a bit wobbly out there.

I've been getting the error message when posting replies to threads. My posts appeared after refreshing the page, though.

Same problem I'm having.

I've seen that a couple of times now too and probably will again when I post this in a few seconds. I will have to investigate...

Except of course it didn't this time did it... I hate intermittent faults

I don't know if this is related, but the other day I tried to reply to the post about the Beat being on Facebook, but it told me I did not have permission to post in that section .. Anty had replied but then again she is a mod.

I would have like to say that I thought it was a good idea, but wondered how it was possible to add the page as a friend or join the group, but I'm not a FB pro so I may have missed something ;)

Sorry for mild off topic ...

And now when I posted that reply, I got a Firefox error saying that the page could not be displayed b/c of a coding error, but hitting refresh solved the problem for me too.

(Win XP Pro, Firefox 3.6.3)

I got the following along the very top of one of the threads I was viewing (it looks to be the same wording as the one ferny posted above):

Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen (http://www.thephotobeat.com/forum/function.fsockopen)]: unable to connect to tcp://localhost:25 (Connection refused) in [path]/includes/class_mail.php on line 635

Clearly, it's across the gamet then, not just happening to one or two of us. It just happened to me again when replying to another thread.

The good news is that at least our replies are actually making it - after refreshing the screen. But the error message is a mite off-putting, since there is no indication that the message HAS been posted.

:irked: A pain!!

How many are seeing that at the moment? Since getting the site going again yesterday, I've seen nothing other than behaviour as expected. Every therad started and post made has done exactly what it should with no sign of the messages reported above.

I've been receiving the dreaded screen also when navigating the site (not necessarily posting). In addition, the site was also very slow yesterday for me.

As a side note, I've been seeing erratic site behaviour in three different forums this week. Maybe this has to do with some vBulletin update?

Yes, I'm getting the same warning still. It's on the top of this page as I write this, and it was at the top of the page when I posted on icassell's thread a moment ago (but I had no problem posting on the thread).

I'm 2,400 km away from home at the moment, typing from a different computer and using a different ISP. The result is the same: I'm still getting those annoying error pages... :(

me too.

It's weird, because I don't see anything like what's being described. On that basis, you'd think I had some sort of permissions that no one else had (OK, I do have some, but nothing that would make sense in light of the error message above). I've managed to find a test buried in the back office though that does generate something similar, so I'm off to explore further.

Don't mind me, just testing...

TPB Supreme Being? I thought that was Anty.

btw, it's happened to me twice just since logging in this afternoon. Post a reply to a thread, hit submit and get what appears to be booted out of the forum with a "cannot display the page" error. Clicking from browser history brings me right back, still logged in, with the submitted message in proper place.

Maddening. :gah:

OK, a small change has taken place in the back office - would someone like to tell me whether they are still seeing the problem?

Was the change just made? I saw the error code earlier today, I believe, but am not seeing it now.

It was made around 1 minute before the time of my last post. It would seem that our host has been making changes in their 'security settings'. Anyway, I've made the corresponding change over here and I'm guessing we are now good until they make another change without informing anyone...

The doctor has given you a new cream at last? About time! Hope it clears up, my thoughts are with you.

I've been away for a few days and have just this morning made several posts - and not seen the error code yet.

Glad you were able to hunt this down, Chris. :cheer:

Yayyy, it looks like Chris fixed the problem....I haven't seen the error code since May 26 when he said he made that 'adjustment'.
