Spent 7 hours in the darkroom on Tuesday getting my head around lith printing! I learnt a lot about the process and it was a good grounding for future sessions, even though the results were a little ropey! Anyway, here's a couple of prints if anyone's interested. They are "works in progress" and need a bit more work to get something I'll be really happy with. Cant wait for my next session :) Excuse the dreadful scans, they look some much better in the flesh, so to speak.

It's a fun process and it looks like you are well on your way. Terri, Brad, a couple of others who have not posted in a long time, and I all took a workshop in Montana from Tim Rudman. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend is workshops.

It looks like fun, mohain. Share more results when you have them.

I think both of these are kickin'!! That was 7 hours well spent, Mohain. I can see the lovely grain of infectious development here and follow how you watched it progress. Great job!

Your tones here are just beautiful. I want details! Which developer did you use, and what was your dilution ratio? Love the look this paper gave you - what paper did you use?

I hope you're satisfied with your final work - I would be!! As Aggie says, taking a workshop is a lovely thing. Nice to have someone like Tim Rudman standing around to give feedback and offer suggestions, she and I can attest to that. ;) But since it's not always practical, you have to really get into the headset of trying something new all alone, and letting yourself make mistakes while being patient. That alone takes some strength! :)

Kudos to ya - beautiful prints. Now, let's hear some more about it. Lith printing is the shiz. :boogie:

Many thanks for the interest and comments. Sorry for the slow reply, I've been away for a few days. I've got nothing else to post at the mo. I did do another couple of prints but I'm not happy to post them. I will go back, probably every other week for the time being to do some more lith work and will post the results, if I get anything worthy of posting ;)

I have seen Tim Rudman workshops offered near where I live but at the time I couldn't afford it, and now that I can they are sold out. I will certainly keep and eye out for more.

Terri, thanks a lot for the comments and the interest :) I used "Moersch Easy Lith" for the developer and mixed at 1+25 (40ml A + 40ml B + 2l water). "Easy Lith" apparently doesn't need any additives, I though as I'm a lith newbie I'd take a few variables out of the equation to start with ;) The paper used is Fomatone MG 132 Matt, recommended to me by another lith printer via the guy who runs our darkroom. It's a warmtone variable contrast fibre-based paper.

These two negs are from a roll of Efke ir820 developed in "R09 one shot" following the dilution and times for Rodinal from the massive dev chart. I cut back a bit on the agitation as i wanted a lower contrast result, but instead I got very very thin negs. I've since learnt that you should mix R09 at 1 + 40 instead of 1 + 50 as you would for Rodinal (or 1 + 80 instead of 1 + 100) and follow the same times. I thought they might print with the lith process and they seem to come out just fine. I know they need some work and they can be improved with a bit of dodging and burning but I was excited by my first results and wanted to post my 'work in pogress'. The scans don't really do them justice and there is more reddish colours in the mid-highlights and greenish colours in the dark-midtones.

Itching to get back in there! I could really do with a darkroom at home again but I just do not have the space at the mo.
