Chains: I like the idea, and the 'texture' of the jumbled rusty chains, but the shot itself is a bit soft.

Jeep: ummm, there's no 'story' or additional interest in the subject matter to hold my visual interest for long.

New Growth: I really like this one, with the sunlight hitting the new seedling, and in the background the sun-dappled forest. The raw shot is a bit dark, but the edited version is better. (Darn, this would have been a good entry for the Renewal contest here at TPB that is taking entries until Saturday. But the entries have to be anonymous, so this one can't be entered now :( )

Just my two cents worth, as I'm no expert (not by a long shot)

i would agree with antarctican about the first shot, it has possiblities but it needs some work, before the shutter fired and after.

What was the shutter speed as the photo doesn't look sharp to begin with, as with almost all RAW files contrast needs to be tweaked, the shapening after.

The other two don't hold much interest for me.

You might want to "walk around the mountain" with the jeep and see what else may be of interest with the car. however, the direction of the light is going to be limiting or so it appears. Since we are just looking at your angle it would be hard to say what else would be available to make the shot more interesting.

One piece of overall advice i would give you ; there is a major myth with photography " Photography is easy" It is hard work, so just jump in and start working very hard.

I've never understood people posting unedited and edited versions unless it's just a top notch edit and trying to explain what was done (which these aren't great edits).

But welcome to the forum anyway.

Welcome to the Beat! :sun:

Listen to Ann's advice, she knows what she's talking about. ;)

Keep shooting and keep posting so you can learn. You mentioned wanting to talk to more professional people, and we have several on board here, all happy to guide you along. :) It is hard work, and you've picked a very exciting major - so dive right in!
