Hi - I am trying to buy some light bulbs for photography. In Germany I know where to buy and what but I am not familiar with the shops and brands in the UK. Can anybody help me perhaps? Yesterday I went to "London Camera Exchange" in Winchester and when I asked them they where just staring at me like an alien.:(

Light bulbs?
Do you mean photoflood bulbs? Because if you do I don't think they make them any more. If they do then I doubt if anyone uses them. They were never much good anyway.
The two main light sources for amateur/professional use are halogen and flash.

photofloods are easily found in my part of the woods. (Atlanta, ga.)

we use them often at school as they are cheap and we have limited funds.

Photofloods are just over-run light bulbs. They don't last long and the colour temperature doesn't match that of professional tungsten film.
Ordinary halogen lights are not much more expensive, last a lot longer and have a good colour temperature.
They may still be available here in the UK but you would probably have to find a specialist supplier.

Perhaps I will try to order some 5000 to 6400 K bulbs in the internet. For some purposes they are not that bad.
