I'm looking to get a scanner so i can show all you lovely people my 120 negs however i'm a little torn as what to get, i'm looking to spend > £300.
The Canon scanners i can get at work at a reasonable price but i often hear people talking more warmly about the Epson Vxxx series scanners.
So what are your opinions?
Thanks

Duncan, For several years I swore by my Epson 2450 photo scanner, but it's kind of crapped out on me lately. It still does a great job with color slides (transparencies) as well as color prints on the flatbed, but it can't seem to read B&W negatives anymore. Don't know why. I rarely need the scanner for B&W negs since I have a darkroom and can make a quick print, but before I did I relied heavily on that scanner to work.
I don't know anything about the newer models. Generally, Epson makes a good product, and even my old one came with several different formats in negative carriers. Worked great for the first 5 years. ;)
Can't speak at all about Canon.

Hi Duncan :)
A friend of mine has a Canoscan 8000F, the results are great from what I've seen. He uses the SilverFast bundled software which he thinks gives superior results. I think it's disontinued now but it's replacement the 8800F seems to get good reviews. Probably the best bang for bucks at around £160 ish, imho.
If you can affords a bit more you might want to go for the Epson V600 - that would be my choice I think, if I had the budget.
