Some more pictures from my Portland trip. For those of you who haven't heard of them, Multnomah Falls is both the tallest and the most visited of the Columbia River Gorge numerous waterfalls. It falls 165 metres in the upper falls and 21 metres in the lower falls, making it the second highest year-round waterfall in the entire United States –and the most visited point in the Columbia River Gorge.
Too bad the weather was miserable that day: the nagging fog and the mist created by the falls themselves ruined the whole photographic experience. Plus, my camera and lenses got soaked!
The images:

These two don't come anywhere close to doing justice to this spot. Yet another reason for me to go back someday.
Thanks for looking.

It's a beautiful spot! In the first shot, the mist adds 'mood', and the green parts are more sharply defined than in the second. But I prefer the composition of the second shot, with the entire upper falls in the frame, the pile of logs for added interest, and the bridge not in the centre.

It's to bad you couldn't come in July or August. It really does get nice and I've been there that time of the year and it's beautiful.
I also like the second shot the best of of the two. Hopefully you have dried out by now.

Hm... if I'm not mistaken, that's in the vicinity of some nice wineries... isn't it??? So if the weather's not optimal... well... :toast:
Nice pics... the fog adds a little something, don't you think?

I would have to agree with everything you said :)

I love the Pacific Northwest. The previous year I spent some time in Seattle, which is why this time I chose Portland. Definitely two cities I wouldn't hesitate a second to live in. The next time I visit I'll make sure it's in the fall; I can only begin to imagine how the natural beauty surrounding Portland looks with the trees all dressed up in red and yellow.
And yes, I'm dry now... It took me more than two months, though

Yeah, the wineries are maybe an hour away from this spot. This area really has entertainment for everybody.
The fog does add that little something, but (along with the mist) made it very difficult for me to come up with good photos. This spot was supposed to be the photographic highlight of my trip, but it wasn't...
Thanks everybody for your feedback!

I barely remember my quick trip there. :( It's a beautiful spot and you did well under the conditions. I also prefer the second shot. Thanks for sharing them with us.

What a beautiful area! I like both images. The second one, being vertical, seems to go nicely with the waterfall, but then I miss the extra greenery on either side that is captured in the first shot. I can see the bridge better in the first shot, and still get quite a good feeling of perspective.
Nicely done....would love to see more!
Sorry about your camera..... :(

Sorry about your camera..... :(
It was just a momentary lapse of wetness, then some TLC and back to business :)
Thanks for your comments, ladies.
