Interesting sight...they were planted surprisingly close to each other. And I can't quite tell...is that water rushing against/between some of them? I like how the line of the tree tops dips down and back up again in a symmetric fashion. Were these the only ones in the area, or part of a longer row?
Good eye, and I like the b/w treatment.

Very interesting! :)
You know when I first saw it, I thought it was people disguised as trees... you know... a sort of palm tree chorus line. Do I see feet???? ;)

Shot this last fall in California. Background now that you mention does look a bit like waves but it actually a dry lake and mountain. The trees where planted along an arc that maybe why they look to be dipping in middle. Also could be how I straighten it at editing. Recall them being all about the same height.
Very interesting! :)

I gotta say - I like the "unedited" Kodak EIR version better! (You knew I would.) ;) The colors are funky, the tree line is funky, and it works just fine for me.
I don't have any particular issue with this edited version (my work monitor is awful, it shows kind of flat) - but showing the original tipped it for me. You were always able to do some of the best work I've seen from that film.

Very nice Jeff! It's so interesting to see palm trees in the middle of nowhere like this. The trees always look so odd when they haven''t been trimmed. I think I like the unedited version better too.

It may be a bit flat. With this late group of EIR that I have scanned so far there seemed to be a large percentages shots having this look; mostly from my last trip to California. IMO they seem old timely, that’s why I went with this B&W treatment rather than a Zone look. What would cause them to be flat?
PS: I actually think your Bryce Canyon EIR shots are better that anything I’ve every shot with the film.

PS: I actually think your Bryce Canyon EIR shots are better that anything I’ve every shot with the film. Sweet talker!! Thanks for saying that. I only remember wanting to get it processed the way you had your stuff from (going way back here!) Joshua Tree processed - I loved the look you achieved!
I can't say why the B&W conversion is flat here...it's color IR, a different animal. I'm just happy with the pretty colors you have in the original. The funky, soft colors and the little bit of vignetting makes it look like a cross between a Holga shot and a Polaroid. What's not to love?
