I shoot for a couple of historical groups in the area and we have been trying to get a vintage look out of digital photos. Here are a few from some shoots I did.

I would say you succeeded...the processing and vignetting really helps make the shots look as if they were taken a long time ago (as do the simple hairstyles on the women, the fact they are not making eye contact or smiling, and of course their clothing).

I like the shot of the bearded man, but it doesn't seem to have the same 'old photo' feel to it...he could be an old salt who just got off a boat from some other country.

I agree on the shot of "Tom". It's a case of two different projects with two different looks. Thanks for the comments and taking time to look.

Is it a special outfit/hat he is wearing?

He's dressed as an early soldier, C-1850's.

These are great! I'd say about the only thing you could do to make them look older is to beat the stuffing out of them! You know... that 'distressed' look! hahaha

Seriously, these are really nice! :big grin:

I do believe you nailed the look OFG. These have the feel of going through my grandmothers' picture albums.

If at some time you would like to discuss your method, I would certainly be interested.

Well done.

Very interesting post-processing. All look great, but I think the last one is the one that could most easily pass for a photograph from yesteryear.

(I love the word "yesteryear".)
