There are 2 new HDs on their way to my house. Each one is 1TB so I can store more then enough photo's for the time being :)
The thing is, I never bothered making backups and I was wondering what people here use to make their backups. There are more then enough programs to make backups out there, but im just curious about what people usually do.
Any input is welcome.

I have one of these (http://www.lacie.com/uk/products/product.htm?pid=11142) configured to RAID 1.
It comes with pretty good back-up software for both Mac and PC.
I tend to be suspicious of back-up software though as they have a habit of creating program specific archives, making it difficult to get access to the saved files except via the program. My preferred method is to just copy the folders direct from my computer to the external HD. You then have easy access to stored files at all times and, as there is no compression, less chance of data loss.
I save at regular intervals and each time I create a new folder leaving earlier saved work intact. Using Firewire 800 it doesn't take that long (I leave it running while I go to work). And the LaCie HD has eSATA too - which would be even quicker.

I agree with Hertz. I have a 2TB drive configured as RAID 1 now and I don't use any special backup software. I just copy the files to the disk at regular intervals (and, in RAID 1, they are automatically copied onto both disks simultaneously). I used to have 2 separate 500GB drives and I would copy everything to both drives at the same time, but that was a PIA.
