(It's technically December in the east of the continent, so let's get this party started!)

This is the nomination thread for the biweekly photo contest, for pictures posted on the forum from December 1st to 15th, 2009 inclusive. Members may nominate up to three photographs posted by others during this time period. You can’t nominate your own images. If a photograph has already been nominated, please don’t nominate it again as it will already be on the list. And if you nominate a shot posted outside of the applicable time period, it will be removed.

To nominate a photo, please add it to this thread, and include
-the thread title from where the image was originally posted;
-the name of the photograph (if there was one posted); and
-the name of the photographer

On the evening of December 18th a voting poll will be added to this thread, so that you can see the nominated images in the same thread as you will be voting. Voting will remain open for 4 days after the poll is posted.

In the event of a contest tie, the mods/admins will be asked if they haven't yet voted. If they haven't, they must pick between the tied images to break the tie. If all the mods/admins have already voted and there is still a tie...then they will vote again amongst themselves, on only the tied images, to declare a winner. [So in a nutshell, in the event of a tie, the mods/admins will perform the tie-breaking.]

Thanks in advance for your participation (both nominating and voting)!

By Kundalini in the member interview

René, I'm not sure if this amazing image can compete this time. It was originally posted by kundalini in June and participated in the Contest back then –see here (http://www.thephotobeat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=807). I'll let the mods determine if it's a go or not.

^^^ Sadly, invisible is right. Since the photo was not only originally posted earlier, but also nominated previously, it can't be in the contest this time 'round. [It's a beaut though!]

Wow... thanks guys! I was up against some very tough competition!

Mohain your (I'm assuming) sunset shot has some fantastic pastel colors and a great peaceful mood to it. I have a notition that you waited for the sun to just barely set over the horzion to take this gorgeous sunset.

Invisable your shot of the lady in the haunted house a very intriging shot. On the one hand, I feel like telling her this is not the place to be hanging out that she is in danger, but in the other hand there is a peace about this place. The fact that she looks remorseful or sad adds another dimension to this shot.

Walter you never stop amazing me with the way you can turn the dry, hot climate into a beautiful shot. I'm not a fan of the desert one bit and have never found the desert that pretty to look at, but you keep me coming back to look at it over and over again. This one has 5 horizontal lines that add a lot to this shot to keep you interested in the shot. Great work.

Alex, wow... I love this shot. If not anything else, but because you have a very super still water that casts an almost perfect reflection. I think it's the reflection in this shot that mirrors the landscape that makes this shot great in my eyes. Great shot!

EricD, I have always wanted to get a picture of bald eagle, but I don't think that I'll ever get a shot this good. I've attempted flying birds before but never been able to get a shot that I like. You have captured him in a great pose that seems to scream majestic to me, and that's what the bald eagle is, majestic. Fantistic shot.
