I did it!
I bought it!
After 2 years of "hinting" and "hinting" and never getting it as a present (which I had hoped my hints would lead to...), I robbed my piggy bank and went out myself.
Ta-daaa!
My new...

Yay! :toast:

It's gorgeous. I'm so jealous!! My old Trek is nearly 10 years old and the gears are kind of wacky.
I bet this rides like a dream. Congrats!!
Where do you ride, Corinna? Are there trails around your area, or do you follow the road and do a little "off road" stuff, too?

Cool. I've been meaning to get my fat arse back on my bike.
So, how about we all go to yanky land to visit terri, get some lessons from her and Brad and then go biking?

Good idea, ferny.
But first of all my own fat arse, one that's NOT used to this kind of saddle (!), has to get used to it! So the roads it is at first, as un-bumpy as possible, please, just so I get somewhat better used to it all, then a bit of off-road --- but at nearly 50 I doubt I'll start doing any trails or even trials! ;)
But brandnew as it is, it DOES ride like a dream just now, of course :D.

Congrats Corinna! I've been looking at buying one too. You'll have lots of fun exploring the countryside on that. :)

You do get used to that saddle. It WILL make you sore at first, no doubt.
If you haven't already, investigate ladies' bike wear...amazingly they come with built in padding in the perfect places. Not comfortable for extended walking around, but on the bike...? I cannot ride without my biking shorts!
Also...it's possible to remove & swap out a rock-hard seat for a more cushioned women's seat. I don't think I could have lasted all these years without new seats every so often.
You will love it once you train your muscle group to the oddness of mountain biking. We've had warm days and I have gotten out once so far this year. My own bike is now currently in the shop awaiting minor maintenance - can't wait to get it back!
Have fun! :D

Wimp! Terri's like, 65 now? And she goes along railways. Granted they're pathed over now but still...

Terri will forever love you for your guessing her age, ferny. I am so sure! :D
But then who knows?
By the time I'm 65, I might have so much callous on my bottom (a-hem) that also I will ride railways then!!! You NEVER know! ;)

Your bike looks awesome...if I ever get the time I'll tell you about getting lost in the North Georgia Mountains...It's a long, long, tale. If Ferny were to catch wind he'd run like hell from any of my Mountain Bike tricks!

Nice ride. Hoping many years of adventure for you.
I've got a hybrid myself. Half country / half city sorta thing. It won't take the high country trails, but neither will I, other than on foot. :)
