I am considering a new purchase after having some photos printed at KodakGallery.com.
ColorMinku Photo (http://www.xritephoto.com/ph_product_overview.aspx?id=1115)
I recently did some portraits for a friend and his family. We both loved some of the shots, so he decided to get a bunch of them printed and framed, including one 16x20. When the prints came back I was disappointed with the quality. The prints themselves looked fine, but some of them were very dark, including the large format print. I went back and looked at it on the screen (calibrated with a Spyder II (I think, one of the Spyders)) and it looked great. Some of the prints were as much as 2-3 stops off from what they should be.
I am now considering calibrating my screen and printer together so I can handle everything up to an 8x10 myself without the hassle of asking for reprints and fighting over the shipping costs. I realize that in the end this is going to cost me more than having Kodak print them for me, but at least I can expect to get what I am seeing on the screen.
Does anyone have any experience with this product?
Thanks.
