A few more from the Bowmanville POW camp, also known as Camp 30 . There is some good reading here>>sort of the history of the place is a little down in the article.

I saw this place featured in the newspaper, but did not think I could get inside. Actually I did not think I was thin enough to squeez in the opening I found.:batterup: This used to be the Gymnasium facility.

The floors entering this building were a little....soft. Looks like a previous visitor went through.

After leaving this building, I was asked to leave the property. The person that runs the tractor company across the road has been playing "police officer" since the media covered this place. He has had to call the police a few times.
I never made it over to the school.:twisted:

I like the placement of the "don't swim alone" sign. Nice shot, that!

Thank you Chris and Jeanette. I try not to touch anything when Im in these buildings. The one with all the bad and rotting food, was kinda creepy. I wish I could get back with my tripod here.

Chiller, why not ask the police in advance, and the guy across the road that watches it if you can go in and take pictures. I find that scouting out who owns or controls the property and asking goes a very long way to letting me in and doing all sorts of things. Back in the late 90's I did a big series on an abandoned diary in Napa Valley California. I went and asked the woner for permission to shoot. I went back many times for reshoots, and more places I hadn't explored. It was a treasure trove of shots. But I would never have had access if I hdn't asked. They have since bulldozed the whole place and built houses that are now in foreclosure.

…flutter your pretty eyes and charm your way into a POW camp. Us men, well, we are used to breaking/entering/lying and asking forgiveness later.

It's called pure intimidation, and terror tactics. They are warned i will do it, and in return they stay the hell out of my way. I never have understood why one look from me can freeze the blood of the biggest burliest man? I haven't broken someone elses bones in a few years. But then I might be dangerous if I ever learned self defense.

Thanks for all the comments. I think with this place, it is a time issue too. Should be torn down in a month or so. But with the media all over it, photographers will be flocking there.
.......and if you ever saw me.....:lol: I might scare the skin off ya'all.

There's definitely a creepy vibe to the whole series. My favorite is the pool with the "don't swim alone" sign in the forefront too nicely shot.
