In an effort to make everyone aware of the world around us I thought this might be a good idea. Please name you top 5 locations for great photos that you HAVE done yourself.

If we can get everyone to name five each what a valuable source of information for others who mabe travelling there. :camera:

1. Whitby, North Yorkshire, ENGLAND. With the Abbey, small streets, locals, River Esk etc. it's a lovely place to photograph. Oh and the football club :)

2. West Brompton Cemetery, London, ENGLAND. THe wild life, nature and age of the place makes this a nice one to visit.

3. San Diego Wild Animal Park, San Diego California, USA. Getting close to the animals is possible but the place is amazingly large and you feel like you are on safari.

4. Vienna, Austria. Full of old buildings and people that beg to be shot. I visited before having digital cameras so I haven't many examples.

5. Klagenfurt and Velden am Wothersee, Austria. Amazing landscapes, churches, villiages, lake and so much more.

Well over to you.

If I could make a small suggestion......Perhaps a link to a sample of the photography taken in that location as well?

My list is rather pathedic due to my limited travel so I have to hold off on my list...see if I even have five locations.

Good idea. I'm not sure I have five "great photos," but I have some favorite places.

1. Sonoran Desert, Arizona, anywhere in the 2,000-3,000-foot range. Lots of varied vegetation and low mountains.

2. Vancouver Island, British Columbia. There are rocky shorelines, deep forests and snow-capped peaks. If you can't find something that inspires you, give it up.

3. Agua Fria National Monument, Arizona. Rivers, trees, ruins and proximity to Phoenix. And almost nobody goes there.

4. Flagstaff area, Arizona. You could spend your life photographing Sunset Crater, Walnut Canyon, Wupatki, the San Francisco Peaks, and on and on.

5. Abiquiu, New Mexico. This was Georgia O'Keefe's turf. It's awesome. I wish I'd known what I was doing with a camera when I was there last year. The only downside is that it's been photographed so much that you're walking in deep footprints.

I'd have to dig through boxes in my garage to get the negatives out for these places.

1. Zion National park and surrounding places - Grafton ghost town, Redcliffs state park, Kolob, Buffalo park, Navajo Lake, Smith Mesa

2. Delta region of the Sacramento River in California. Whole lot of little forgotten old towns

3. Back roads in Tennessee

4. Hovedgaard Denmark (Families home town)

5. Venezuela I was all over this country from Los Roques, to the rain forests around the Apure river. Didn't make it to Angel falls though.

6. (Had to include this one) Mexico City. It's the worlds largest city and there is such diversity here, from the floating islands, to the Aztec ruins in the center of town, to cathedrals that are magnificent, to just plain people watching.

I would like to offer the following for consideration:

Bahrain (http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris-of-arabia/sets/72157604062894226/) - despite the heat at some times of the year, I love just wandering with the camera. The people are so friendly and happy to pose. I've even had people come out of shops specifically to ask me to come inside and take their picture.
The Lake District (http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris-of-arabia/sets/72157603657315090/) - I'd live there in a heartbeat
Hong Kong (http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris-of-arabia/sets/72157615875387678/) - probably the most fun city I've ever visited.
Cornwall (http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris-of-arabia/sets/72157603661848057/) - probably second choice after the Lakes
The Riyadh Camel Souk (http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris-of-arabia/sets/72157603928133209/) - probably the most enjoyable day I've ever had with a camera

Mh...

1.- Cuetzalan (http://www.cuetzalan.gob.mx/cuetzalan/)(Puebla): A small, very characteristic town with cobbled stones that go up and down the Sierra. At walking distance you can find precolumbian ruins, waterfalls and caves. On Sundays, people from surrounding towns (each with their traditional clothes) go to the market to trade and sale their goods.
There are also some small bars with live music at night.

2.- Guanajuato, Guanajuato (http://www.guanajuatocapital.com/ingles/Gale.htm): The streets go underground and the houses on the side of hills. Mh?

3.- Playa del Carmen / Tulum / Cozumel, Quintana Roo: Maya ruins, the most beautiful beaches.

4.- The sink holes in the Yucatan Peninsula (Cenotes (http://images.google.com.mx/images?sourceid=navclient&rlz=1T4GGLJ_enMX223MX223&q=cenotes&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi)): Really tough shooting conditions: underwater and underground at the same time!

5.- ?

Wow!
I'm still shooting and while I have to say I've got some spots I like fairly well, I'd have to say that I'm not sure I've met my 'ideal' photo spots! So I'l just keep looking, but it's nice to see so many diverse places! :)
