I have a bit of a problem. I want to shoot digital IR and most of my attempts with my Canon 30D are marginal at best. I know that I will have do do "something" else.

So, I was reading yesterday that Fujifilm makes a camera (the IS-1) that is basically both IR & UV sensitive. It looks pretty interesting and for the most part, the reviews on it have been pretty good. It's 9.0 mp.

I could also buy a new camera (it would probably be a 50D) and have the 30D converted or have my hubby (who is handy with such things) do the conversion.

Anybody have any experience with the Fuji cam or with having a camera converted?

TIA for your help & input!

I wouldn't have a clue what's involved in trying this, but converting a new 50D sounds slightly drastic. Tell you what, I'll take the 50D off your hands and you can have my 350D to play with. Would that be OK?

try here http://www.maxmax.com/axrayircameras.htm

i have this one
http://www.maxmax.com/fuji_s9100_(is-1).htm

you will still need a couple of filters which bring up the price a bit.

one filter is for the IR and then the other is for shooting "normal" type stuff.

I really like it for IR work as I can hand hold and see what i am looking at; vs. the d100 with the 89 filter which is only on a tripod and can't see a thing after putting on the filter.

I am not overly fond of the "straight "stuff. I took it with me to SA this Dec. and used it a few times and found the images a bit too over saturated. I have gone into the menu and made some changes but haven't gotten around to using it since that time.

Is the problem with your canon due to exposure issues or converting problems?

jeanette,

email me a copy of one of your IR files, before converting,

quick note jeanette. Canon is not known to have followed through on the development of their IR capability. Nikon is the best bet for it. Other than that I know NOTHING! Add shutlz's accent
