This was an older butterfly I think, one bonus of a caged life is a long life, but with that comes all the rigours of old age. And if your a butterfly that means ragged wingtips.

All taken with Canon 400D, Sigma 70mm macro, 1.4 teleconverter, speedlite 580EX2 + lumiquest softbox

This little lot were taken in the Norfolk Buttefly and Wildlife Centre - great little place which seems to be on the up with some energetic owners and staff.

more can be seen in the flickr set

Who says we don't like 'em? (You just happened to post these when I was in Newfoundland. Sorry I missed them when you first posted them!)

Beautiful crisp shots, Overrread. I especially like the composition of the second shot (where you placed the butterfly in the frame).

Good shots, Overread. It's hard to believe how shiny the wings on the second one are. These shots feed my yen for a macro lens.

I love the ragged wings of the third shot.

Hmm, you posted these back in September? Don't know how I missed them. The second one is a pretty little thing -very delicate looking.
