My goldfinches tolerate the occasional click and flash as long as I keep ther feeder topped up. With the dull winter light I tend to use fill in flash and the birds take no notice of it, shutter noise sometimes causes them to check things out to see if anything in their peripheral vision has moved.

(Looks like he's giving you the evil eye.)

Lovely shot of the inquisitive little bird. I love the markings of the UK goldfinches

He is beautiful! So different in his markings than the goldfinches we have in the SE USA. Our males are pretty much pure yellow/golden, with black markings, and the females are duller, more brown with maybe some streaks of yellow - but they certainly lack this gorgeous red around the face.

I love bird watching. :goodvibes: It's true, if you keep those feeders topped off and hang suet cakes, you are rewarded with a lot of varieties in your back yard.

Wow! I love seeing the different varieties of birds. Our yard is full of birds. Yesterday I watched a roadrunner hunt down a little house finch. It was amazing to watch, but I felt so bad for the little guy. Next time I'll chase the roadrunner away.
