... in our region - and what surprised me most is that we're actually on the 53rd parallel (which is where there's Québec, for example) and hardly get any snow at all, while even further south, all Canada and the northern parts of the States (including those south right now!) get heaps of ice and snow and have COLD winters and all...

Something tells me that in my original files, despite the contours softened by the fog, the first tree is clearer and sharper - or would this be wishful thinking? If I took this one with the 70-300mm zoom lens, then it could also have played its "tricks" on me (it's the el-cheapo Sigma lens for € 169,- which I bought shortly before we flew to the Meet-Up with Terri and Brad and others in Washington DC in April 2006). I'm afraid it is broken already and some glass inside got loose.

I always love the layers of mist "measuring" the landscape as if fades away.

Had a 70-300 Sigma for years . . . back to 35mm EOS days and it still produces sharp results if a little clumsy when compared to my 70-200 F2.8 that stays the same length when zooming.

What a pretty scene! I like the progression of tree trunks in this shot.

Only you can tell us about the original file...I agree with you this is a little soft, but it certainly isn't bothering me. If you found the original file it might be interesting to compare the two versions.

2006 was the DC meeting....? Wow! Does not seem like 3 years! :)

Yes, the originals are sharper. As is the downsized version for web-presentation. So I think that uploading my pics into Flickr is doing them some harm... a pity. I'm PAYING for Flickr even ... it shouldn't happen. Ah well... *shrug* ... what can I do?

The trees in this image are both stark, yet beautiful. And I love the angle of the trees leading off into the distance, as well as the greens, golds and browns of the wet earth. This one really appeals to me

Love how you composed this one Corinna. For some reason, I find this a really peaceful image. Nice one.:thumbup:

I love how the line of trees leads you through the photograph. Beautiful shot Corinna!
