I'm very unhappy about the look of the images I post and I think it is mostly because I do not know how to get the images from the large size I download on my computer to the small size required to post it. I see everyone else posting images in a large enough format that you can see it and it's not "pixalized" I admit I am not good with digital files so I need help. I use photoshop but it is an older version, 7.5. Any advice?

I thought you only get pixalized pictures when making it bigger then it was, but that could be me. But in PS (is use CS2, but i think its pretty much the same), i just go to Image --> Image size and fill in the size that you want. You could also use Alt-CTRL-I, its the same but with the shortcut. It helps to do a little Unsharp mask when you resized it (dont know if it excists in 7.5 though) I usually use these settings when i resized a picture: Amount 50, Radius 0.5, Threshold 0. These are used when the picture is rezised for web-use.
Hope that helps :)

The problem lies not in your resizing of the image, Gay, but in the fact that the people displaying full size (or large) images here are actually displaying the image as a link to another location.
The reason their images look 'different' than yours, mine & Ann's is that we are uploading images directly here and they are linking to their online image accounts elsewhere on the web.
I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably not be posting further images here unless/until I have another location online (ie, smugmug, etc).

jeanette,,

do you think that was the problem i had with the "travel trash" image ? As there was a huge difference in color and my monitor is calibrated.

I , like you am hesitate to post anything anymore as i can't deal with the image looking less than i know it should. Silly, perhapes, but it is how i feel .

I dont worry about what quality my images look like on a "photo forum". If they look o.k on my website, or printed that is fine. It is only a forum, and not important as the person who is purchasing or viewing an image in person. I have had images on a forum that look a little off, but the real thing looks fine.

sorry..just my 3cents worth...I will go away again. :big grin:

I found out that I had to put them on some site to post the way I would like also.

I understand completely the angst of seeing one's posted work looking poor - but slowly, I've come 'round to Chiller's way of thinking. I always make them look great at home, on my own monitor, then when I view them at my office, at friend's homes, etc - anyone else's monitor, really - I appreciate what a crapshoot viewing photography on the web can be. No 2 monitors will really be similar (for the average home user).
