This place is about 27 miles from my house. There are around 10,000 documented petroglyphs in this small state park. What really pisses me off is that someone thought it would be fun to add to one of the biggest and most magnificent boulders. They etched deeply into the rock the word "Xenu" the Tom Cruise relgion person. There is no security at the park, anyone can go in at anytime. So vandalism is high. The only real security is the road getting to it. It should be a 4x4 to get there, but I've seen people destroy their cars driving to it. Before anyone gets panties in a twist, the swastica is backwards. It is from the orginal inhabitiants that made the petroglyphs. It is over 8000 years old. It haws not been added by the vandals.

I have seen some cave paintings by aboriginals in Australia, but never any petroglyphs like this. How fascinating. And how sad that people would vandalise such a thing.

Thanks for sharing this image!

The Fremont Indians, an off shoot of the Anasazi lived in this area. There is one mural that I want to get to this spring. It has life sized pictures of a stick person. It is on private land and I have to have the owner take me to it. Since he is an old boyfriend I don't think I will have trouble getting permission. It is one of hundreds that hve not been documented.

I love this shot. It is sickening to think anyone who would make such an effort to see it would so thoughtlessly vandalize it.

Although, I guess, in another few hundred years even that will take on a life of its own....

Thanks for posting!
