The Haystack Rock is one of the main tourist destinations in the Oregon coast –if not the main one. Travelled there back in December, had a nice little walk on the beach and came up with a handful of good images... The miserable day actually provided some mood to the shots...

Not sure what that thing in the sand is exactly, but made for great foreground...

This doggy stopped right beside me when I was shooting a pano... and immediately became mesmerized by the rock like the rest of us...

Finally a pano (NOT the one that the dog intruded)...

Thanks for looking...

The thing in the foreground is a stalk of kelp. Know those suckers well. Can identify them by the smell.

Sweet images.:thumbup: I really like the image with the pooch in it.

Beautiful shoreline - I've never heard of Haystack Rock, but it's easy to see how it came by the name.

I must agree the overcast day really added to the moodiness of these. All of them are lovely...the one with the dog is the standout for me in this series. He posed for you perfectly.

The pano is wonderful, too. Nice work!!

The one with the dog is surreal, but so is the last one! Almost looks like it was taken on another planet! Wowser! Nice!

Thanks everybody! Like I wrote in this thread's clone thread on The Other Side, I'm surprised at the fact the majority of the people seem to like the dog photo the best. I wasn't happy with the results when I post-processed it (it looked TOO overcooked to me). Goes to show how little I like overly-manipulated images, even my own.

I'm another vote for the dog! :) The pano is my favorite. It's beautiful country up there. Nothing like a walk along the beach to recharge the soul.

I think it's the way the contours of the dog mesh with the beach wave…killer image.

You bet! I can't say I live under much stress here in Winnipeg, but I noticed I was way more relaxed after this trip.

Hadn't noticed it before you mentioned it, but I agree about how the lines mesh. It was purely accidental, as the dog stepped into the frame after I had already composed.

Thanks MM and RM for your comments!
