dropped into borders this afternoon between classes to do some research on easter island. As it really began to rain and i was finished, i of course hit the magazine section, photo division , to see what was new (if anything). Found a magazine from UK, i don't remember the exact title, but it was the award winning digital photos from 2008.
Some nice work, but what really caught my attention to buy was the small section called young photograhers. under 10 to 17. I just had to have some of my students see this work.
talk about "frosting your mug", it was terrific and will bring you to your knees to see some of this work and marvel at the simplicity of the thought process.
The under 10 photo that won was very nice, but my favorite was the runner up in the age group. A pig. The young man got down on his belly in the mud to be eye to eye with this fellow and then added the rump of another as he "thought it made it more interesting". Made my heart just jump:love:
