Would love to see this enlarged.

I love your framing....something makes me want to see it in a longer DOF, so it's sharp from edge to edge.

I'm amazed he got as close as he did. Those are cholla, or jumping cactus. They are wicked.

Thank you Terri and Aggie.

Pencil cholla don't grow near my house, I have to go east 60-70 miles to get my shots of them. I think they are the coolest-looking of the cactus family though. Each unbarbed spine has a protective sheath on them. I've had my grandkids carefully pull one off to show them when I get them around them. Teaches them to move slow and sure and respect for the radical plant.

I'm going out that way next week. If I run across one, I'll try a fuller depth of field.

Interesting! I didn't know what it was. :) I hope you get the chance - there's something about those spiky things that makes me want to see it in sharp detail - making them even scarier, I guess. Make them hit the viewer in the face.

Thanks!

Aggie was quite right because they wave around a bit in the slightest breeze. The base on these are relatively small. Have to be very careful with hands and faces getting up close. It don't hurt to be aware of what's behind you too.

Great title too.

Thanks! I tried to give it a little duality.
